College of Arts and Sciences is seeking (1) Academic Advisor I will complete all duties of a full-service professional academic advisor.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
This position will complete all duties of a full-service professional academic advisor and will be tasked with performing academic advisement functions such as advising, interpretation, and implementation of university policies and procedures. The Academic Advisor I will provide administrative support to the department undergraduate directors as it relates to course substitutions, petitions, and permissions. The Academic Advisor I will also support undergraduate directors with advisement-related events and advisement data needs from Navigate. Will be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Banner, and have experience with programs similar to Argos, Degree Works, Navigate, and more.
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Academic Advisor I are the following:
· Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements using an academic evaluation system.
· Monitors student registration activities and academic performance and progress.
· Delivers communication to students regarding course scheduling, core and major requirements, academic resources, and outreach activities that will promote retention, progression, and graduation.
· Monitors and tracks the retention, progression, and graduation of the assigned student population.
· Maintains and updates students records in the information system.
· Advises prospective and current students about academic requirements and selection of courses.
· Disseminates information on university policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and students.
· Analyzes and processes requests for financial aid reinstatements.
· Provides retention services for students who are on an Academic Improvement Plan.
· Audits student records for graduation requirements.
· Monitors student registration activities and academic performance and progress.
· Provide administrative support to department undergraduate directors as it relates to course substitutions, petitions, and permissions.
· Process registration permissions in Banner for students in assigned populations.
· Supports undergraduate directors with advisement-related events and advisement data needs from Navigate or other reporting tools.
· Participates and/or assists in planning orientation or group advisement sessions for students in the assigned major or related majors.
· Participates regularly in university, college, and area advisement training, development, and planning meeting and activities.
· Participates in college, departmental, and other meetings related to undergraduate programs and advisement.
· Other duties assigned.
