Job Description:
The Filmmaking & Moving Image Arts Program of Sarah Lawrence College is seeking a part-time guest faculty member to teach a production class in 3D Animation. This yearlong (2 semesters) course is intended to focus on the creation and animation of computer graphic-generated characters and environments. Software preference for this class would be Blender or Maya though otherwise might be negotiated with the Program Chair. Topics covered should be the basics of character creation, topology, edge flows, rigging, weighting, and UV mapping. Simple bipedal and non-bipedal characters may be taught as well as walk cycles and automation of facial expressions. Teaching experience preferred. This is an in-person class; candidates must reside in the NY, CN, and NJ areas.
Beyond class instruction, courses at Sarah Lawrence include a significant component of individualized work with students. Candidates may want to familiarize themselves with the basics of this distinctive pedagogical model (please see our website) before applying and indicate in their cover letter how they envision working in this format.

Compensation will be 10.5K-14K a course per semester, based on teaching experience.
