Trinity Christian College Hiring for Executive Advisor to the President for Diversity, Belonging, Equity & Justice at Palos Heights, IL Full Time

Trinity Christian College seeks a full-time Executive Advisor to the President for Diversity, Belonging, Equity and Justice.  The Executive Advisor to the President for Diversity, Belonging, Equity and Justice (EA) is a senior-level leader who (1) sits on the President’s Leadership Team,  (2) guides a core team of campus leaders in the strategic approach of programming and initiatives for students and employees, (3) works across leadership sectors of the college, partnering with other senior leaders to advance Trinity’s Christian vision for the work of diversity, belonging, equity, and justice, (4) guides the college in the analysis and review of policy to ensure barriers to belonging and student success are eliminated, and (5) is a core contributor to the deeper articulation of the Christian theological vision for this gospel work.

Institutional location of the Executive Advisor:

1. The EA reports directly to the President, is a member of the President’s Leadership Team, and functions at the senior leadership level within the organization. The role is differentiated from a Vice Presidential role in that, while Vice Presidents primarily work within their particular sectors of the college (Student Life, Academic Affairs, Finance, etc.), the Executive Advisor to the President has a mandate to work with Vice Presidents across the sectors of the college. This work will entail collaborative goal setting and impact measurement, assistance in policy and practice review, and assistance in professional development particularly as it relates to a Christian vision of diversity and belonging.
2. The EA will collaborate to create vision and guide the campus community by leading a core team that is comprised of other campus leaders who are doing the work of multicultural engagement, diversity, belonging, equity, and justice. The initial team for this work will involve the Director for Student Multicultural Engagement, the Director of Faculty Multi-Cultural Engagement, and the Chair of Staff Council (the latter as a rotating position). Administrative support initially will be provided by the Office of the President.
3. It is anticipated that this will be the initial team structure for the EA but that the leader who is hired will have freedom to reshape the structure in ways that she/he believe best support the role and the institution.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

1. The EA is the lead collaborator with the President and President’s Leadership Team in developing and articulating a Christian vision for diversity, belonging, equity, and justice that calls Trinity forward toward the fullness of the Christian vision of flourishing life for all people.
2. The EA will play a significant role in helping to establish Trinity as a leader in the pursuit of communities of reconciled diversity, convening external experts, stakeholders, and partners who are, with Trinity, committed to gathering people together rather than fostering division.
3. The EA to the President is responsible, in collaboration with the President, for establishing institutional strategy for becoming a community that receives as fully as possible the communion-building gifts of the gospel of Jesus Christ across all lines of difference.
4. The EA will be responsible for guiding processes of policy analysis and review, seeking to identify and eliminate barriers to student and employee flourishing – particularly those that impact groups disproportionately based on identity.
5. The EA will collaborate with VPs in every area of the college to ensure our policy and process review is comprehensive. In addition, the EA will work to ensure that teaching, learning, recruitment, and retention at Trinity is reflective of these institutional commitments.
6. The EA will lead a collaborative process to assess campus climate and bring forth recommendations to cultivate a greater sense of belonging for historically excluded groups and to build capacity in the campus community to understand and engage with the work of diversity, belonging, equity, and justice.
7. The EA will set institutional strategy for professional and human development toward deeper understanding and increased capacity for a robust Christian vision of diversity, belonging, equity, and justice. This will involve guiding the coordination of programming designed for students, staff, and faculty. Regularly, this programming will be accomplished in collaboration with other leaders, groups, and campus stakeholders. At times, the EA will be more directly responsible for executing programming with students and with employees.
8. The EA will craft multi-year strategic plans and priorities that coordinate and organize the diversity, belonging, equity, and justice programming and initiatives of stakeholders and leaders across the campus.
9. The EA will be responsible for creating and tracking assessment measures to guide the institution’s growth and opportunity in this area.
10. The EA will work to create a public-facing communication strategy that names Trinity’s commitments and practices to a Christian vision of diversity, belonging, equity, and justice.
11. The EA will oversee a budget dedicated to the institution’s Christian commitment to diversity, belonging, equity, and justice.
12. The EA will work with campus leaders and stakeholders to develop, facilitate, respond to and assess campus protocols that address bias-related incidents and work within those processes toward resolution of the incidents themselves.
13. The EA will have an accountability role for the President of the institution, in coordination with a special committee of the Board of Trustees.

A Master’s degree is required and previous leadership experience in higher education is preferred.   The EA will support and guide a team of campus leaders who are doing the work of multicultural engagement, diversity, belonging, equity, and justice.  The EA will convene external experts, stakeholders, and partners to establish Trinity as a leader in the pursuit of communities of reconciled diversity.
