Position Summary
The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics (BLD) Program at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed-term academic year faculty position. The appointment will be an academic year, nine-month position to MMG/BLD 465 – Medical Microbiology – during Fall Semester 2023. The course will be taught in a hybrid format – with some days in person and some online (e.g. 2 days on campus, one day online). The individual will be responsible for instruction in medical microbiology at the undergraduate level, scholarship, research, program development and community and professional engagement.

Minimum Requirements
The candidate will need to demonstrate strong teaching skills, discipline knowledge, writing skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Additional responsibilities include professional engagement, scholarship, service and outreach. Opportunities for clinical practice can be negotiated. Required qualifications include:
1) D(ABMM), or eligible;
2) teaching experience at either the undergraduate or graduate level, broadly defined (teaching assistant, bench teaching, didactic or laboratory course instruction);
3) scholarship/publication record;
4) a productive clinical or basic science research program; and
5) commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include active participation in professional organizations, outreach experience, and leadership experience.
