Position Summary:
This position will serve as a research technician for microbial biotechnology projects funded by the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation in the Neidle lab group. The technician will work independently as well as under the direction of more senior lab members to conduct various molecular biology methods with different bacteria, including E. coli, Acinetobacter baylyi, and Pseudomonas putida. Strain and plasmid construction and design will be necessary. Some lab maintenance tasks will be expected, such as making media and solutions, washing dishes, and organizing supplies. Training and supervision will be provided to the person hired for this position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
Previous experience working with the microbes involved (E. coli, Acinetobacter baylyi, and Pseudomonas putida). Previous experience in DNA analysis and plasmid design and construction. Knowledge in the areas of molecular biology and microbial genetics.

Lifting trays into the autoclave, less than 40 lbs.
