Facilities – Maintenance

Responsibilities

Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of piping and associated components.

• Installs, maintains and repairs piping valves, faucets, sinks, sewers, vents and other sanitary fixtures. Installs and maintains gas and air stream piping and associated fixtures.
• Checks, repairs and replaces steam boilers and safety devices and controls. Flushes and cleans boilers, storage and return tanks, hot water heaters, etc.
• Reads and follows blueprints and other verbal or written instructions in order to complete repair orders.
• Drives University vehicles as required. Responsible for other duties as assigned within the department.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years.

(Note: Technical or vocational degree in an appropriate mechanical trade area may substitute for experience.)

• Knowledge of the practices and the ability to perform skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other related trades work.
• Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
• Ability to utilize technical skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment, and materials used in area of work.
• Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• A valid State of Florida Class E, Georgia driver’s license, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Anticipated Salary Range

The minimum hiring salary for this position is $34,520.00 commensurate with experience and education.
