Organizational Unit Overview |
The Materials Management Department is part of the fiscal operation of East Carolina University under the supervision of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. The Department of Materials Management oversees the operation of Purchasing, Central Stores (Central Receiving Warehouse, Central Supply and Medical Storeroom), University Surplus. The primary function of the Materials Management Department is the administration of the materials management program for the University and the School of Medicine. The Materials Management Department has sole responsibility for the procurement of all commodities, contractual agreements and consultant services for the University, and the Medical School. The Materials Management Department, by delegated authority from the North Carolina Department of Administration, Division of Purchase and Contract, is responsible for the procurement of all equipment, supplies, and services not exceeding $1,000,000 per expenditure. The department also has a construction delegation from the Department of Administration, Office of State Construction, not exceeding $300,000. The administrative function of the department is to assure that proper and legal methods of procurement are maintained and to service the University departments by processing department requisitions in accordance with the University, State and Federal guidelines. Approximately 32,000 purchase orders are issued annually. |
Job Duties |
Primary purpose of this position is to physically stage equipment and furniture for surplus sales and show equipment and furniture to customers by appointment. The person in this position assists the coordinator of State Surplus Property with the incoming and outgoing surplus property for the University. This position assists with leased storage space for the departments on campus, physically moving the incoming and outgoing furnishings and other stored items. This position assists the Fixed Assets Office by supplying a list of relevant equipment that is being surplused so that it can be deleted from the University’s inventory system. This position assists with receiving shipments at the warehouse loading dock, including signing for shipments received. This position operates in a warehouse environment and assists with the daily maintenance and upkeep of the warehouse areas including loading dock areas, surplus property areas, other storage areas within the warehouse, and outside areas around the warehouse (such as picking up and discarding trash). |
