Description: The University of Tennessee Foundation (UTFI) is seeking a self-motivating professional to join our team as the Associate Director of Gift Planning on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus. The Associate Director of Gift Planning is a key member of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Advancement Team. The position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned gifts that will benefit colleges and units across the UTK campus. The position advises and collaborates with development staff from all colleges and units in the design of strategies and gift plans. The position will also provide information and assistance to estate and tax planning professionals (attorneys, CPAs, financial planners, stockbrokers, life insurance agents and bank trust officers) about UTK programs and funding needs. These professionals are the gatekeepers to the wealth of many donors and prospective donors.
Additional duties include:
· Develop and implement comprehensive donor strategies that result in major deferred, as well as current gifts, raising $5,000,000 plus per year.
· Maintain a personal portfolio of 150 planned giving prospects while managing and growing the gift planning pipeline for assigned divisions.
· Prepare and deliver 20+ written proposals of $25,000 or more that ensure a prospective donor’s best interests are considered and similarly match the funding goals and needs of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with 4 plus years or master’s degree with 2 years of development, advancement, sales, financial planning practice, marketing, or other relatable experience is required. Job Skills: The ideal candidate will have knowledge of planned giving strategies and techniques (Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, Gift Annuities, Remainder Interests in Residences and Farms, Pooled Income Fund, Life Insurance, Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designations, TOD/POD Designations, Bequest Expectancies, Marketable Securities, Real Estate, Closely Held Securities, Tangible Personal Property), probate processes and administration of planned giving assets.
· Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, organizational skills and facility for mathematical and financial concepts are required. Must possess excellent time management skills, flexibility in daily responsibilities and ability to manage multiple and complex projects simultaneously.
· Must have excellent telephone manner, strong verbal and written communication and capacity to build strong relationships with alumni, donors, and prospects. Must display multicultural competence and sensitivity to diversity, equity, and multicultural issues.
· Ability and willingness to engage in extensive travel, sometimes overnight.
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
