Description
The Lewis & Clark College Department of Art and Art History invites applications for a one-year Digital Media Visiting Professor to begin the fall of 2022 with the possibility of renewal. The teaching load is five courses per academic year, including introductory, intermediate, and upper-level courses in digital media and rotational classes in the studio art major. In addition to the teaching assignment, the visiting professor will advise senior art majors concentrating in Digital Media and work with departmental technicians to oversee the digital media area.
Areas of expertise may include creative coding, physical computing, experimental sound, and other intersections between studio art, media, and technology. An exhibition record that demonstrates professional engagement and accomplishment relevant to the candidate’s practice is expected.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should be versed in the theory and understanding of the cultural effects of new media and digital technologies in contemporary art practice. An MFA, Ph.D., or Master’s in a digital media-related field is required, and teaching experience beyond graduate school is preferred. Experience teaching in a manner that values conversations between media and across disciplines is especially welcome.
