Job Description Summary
The Division of Rheumatology is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to manage the day-to-day operations of multiple clinical trials and translational research projects for vasculitis, scleroderma, Sjogren’s Syndrome, and other rare rheumatic diseases. Essential functions of this position include and are not limited to: screening, recruitment, and enrollment of study participants; data collection, entry, and management in accordance with study protocols; scheduling and conducting research visits; and managing all study-related documentation. This person will work in a highly collaborative team environment with other research coordinators, a lab manager, program manager, and investigators to help advance the research mission of the Division and University.

Job Responsibilities
The primary duties of the Clinical Research Coordinator A include, and are not limited to:
* Daily coordination of multiple clinical trials and investigator-initiated research.
* Screen, recruit, and enroll study participants as specified per protocol. Schedule study visits and associated appointments. Prepare for and conduct study visits with investigators and participants.
* Collect, process, store, and ship blood, urine, and tissue specimens.
* Prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation including initial submissions, continuing reviews, amendments, and adverse event reporting.
* Coordinate, organize, complete, and maintain all study documentation including source documents, case report forms, essential study documents, regulatory documents, and participant binders. Enter data in electronic data capture systems.
* Manage the Division’s social media accounts and research websites. Design recruitment and retention materials.
* Show vigilance in participant safety, protocol compliance, and data quality. Adhere to all University of Pennsylvania, FDA, and GCP guidelines.
The Clinical Research Coordinator B is expected to perform the duties above with minimal supervision with the additional expectation that the candidate will develop novel solutions to research questions, and present and implement strategies to improve participant recruitment. CRC B will work closely with the Clinical Research Manager on preliminary budget proposals, perspective reimbursement analyses, and study start-up activities.
Position contingent upon funding.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a work week divided between working onsite and working remotely.
QUALIFICATIONS:
CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR A: Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 2 years clinical trial/clinical research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR B: Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years to 4 years of clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required.
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills are essential. Exquisite attention to detail; the ability to manage multiple responsibilities including daily tasks and planning for longer-term tasks; outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team are all essential for this position. Individual must be comfortable communicating with diverse audiences. A minimum 2 year commitment in this position is highly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and databases such as REDCAP and LabVantage; and ability to manage social media accounts and research websites is a plus but not required. Previous experience in a clinical research environment is preferred.
The ideal candidate has the duty to understand the role of the CRC as the intersection of study execution, customer service, subject safety, and overall compliance in clinical research. To this end, the proper candidate will be expected to have a strong foundation in clinical research regulations and operations through direct experience in the role.
