Priority
Purpose
The objective of this position is to advise students in the planning and execution of programs and events
that stimulate the cultural, intellectual, and social life of the University. This position will collaborate with campus partners, provide
leadership of the departmental budget, and enhance student learning and development through advising and supervision.
Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Masters degree. Minimum five
years of experiences in advising and administering student programming in a higher education setting. Demonstrated expertise working with
diverse student populations and fostering inclusive environments within an educational setting. Knowledge and skills relating to
professionally and effectively advising and mentoring students. Ability to handle multiple tasks with similar deadlines and thrive in a
fast-paced, high-energy office. Experience with contracting outside vendors and large-scale event management. Excellent leadership,
organization, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills. Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters
degree in higher education, college student personnel, or related field. Experience working with and creating both departmental and student
organization budgets. Experience with risk management policies, procedures, and strategies and exercising good judgment based on the
understanding of those policies and procedures. Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills. Ability to communicate effectively across
levels of an organization using effective interpersonal skills. Experience in assessment of educational outcomes in student activities.
Ability to identify problems, use sound judgment and reasoning to make crucial decisions autonomously. Ability to take initiative and make
decisions supporting the University Unions mission and goals. A positive outlook towards high energy, innovation, and creativity.
