Youth Shelters and Family Services seeking an experienced individual to join our dynamic leadership team as a Youth Shelter Program Director.
The Youth Emergency Program director will be leading a diverse team of individuals dedicated, and passionate about our organization’s mission. This position will also be providing general oversight and management of Shelter program activities; participate in external relations, resource development, and strategic planning and program design.
They maintain familiarity with all aspects of Youth Shelters and Family Services (YSFS) philosophies, integrating and applying philosophies into everyday interactions and practice. They also maintain familiarity with and abide by all aspects of YSFS internal policies and procedures, and participates as a member of agency and program teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Maintain dynamic interaction with the Director of Program Services and Executive Director concerning legal issues, program functioning, compliance and clinical issues.
– Work closely with YSFS senior management in the periodic review and refinement of vision, mission and goals and cross program collaboration.
– Ensure the successful delivery of the Shelter service definition and certification and licensing requirements.
– Oversee and monitor contract compliance including data collection and billing systems and perform file audits.
– Manage external relations with individuals, institutions and agencies, funding and referral sources and other community groups.
– Develop, implement, review and revise Shelter operating policies and procedures in conjunction with the Human Resource Director and Director of Program Services, as appropriate.
– Oversee the development and implementation of annual operating plans and budgets.
– Provide leadership in the development and writing of funding proposals.
– Provide direct client care, CCSS services and billing functions, as needed.
– Perform other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Participate in the hire, training and supervision of Shelter staff in conjunction with the Human Resource Director, ensuring clear understanding of job requirements and obligations.
– Set solid, attainable goals and hold performance reviews against these goals; encouraging learning and educational opportunities, both professionally and personally.
– Participate in the emergency on-call system.
DESIRED PROFILE
– Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service field and three years relevant experience with target population and residential programs; or meet requirements as required by the Children, Youth and Families Department, Children’s Behavioral Health Division Service Requirements and Utilization Guidelines.
– Understanding and knowledge of government and non-profit youth sector and issues affecting young people and youth services.
– Awareness of trauma informed treatment practices for youth in-crisis.
– Strong project management and planning and budgeting skills.
– Ability to work in and lead a dynamic team, as well as an ability to effectively manage tasks independently.
– Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and adjust to changing priorities and deadlines.
– Strong computer software skills including Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
– Initiative, creativity, reliability, flexibility, thoroughness.
– Strong oral and written communication skills with good quality spelling, grammar and punctuation.
– High integrity when dealing with a broad array of cultures and restricted and/or confidential information.
– Valid Driver’s License, personal auto insurance, insurable under YS automobile policy to allow transport of clients, including a clear driving record.
– Criminal Records Check clearance/CPR and First Aid certificates.
