York Technical College Looking for Student Accessibility Specialist Full Time

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year
institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success,
the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the
State.  

The Student Accessibility Specialist performs the following functions:

• Provide direct and
  indirect service to students with disabilities engaging in the interactive process, reviewing documentation and all other relevant
  information to determine eligibility, approval, and implementation of reasonable accommodations in the learning environment.
• Provide appropriate ongoing case management contact with active students with disabilities including contact with faculty and staff to
  ensure ongoing evaluation of implemented accommodations. Hearing student concerns and effectively problem solving with students and
  faculty/staff to make necessary adjustments and/or refer to other services on campus.
• Plans and conducts regular training with
  Faculty/Staff on relevant topics related to access for students with disabilities in the learning environment. Consult with Faculty/ Staff
  on issues of accessibility in the learning environment specific to the classroom environment and the program standards.
• Supports
  the other functions of Counseling and Support Services in making referrals to Counseling, evaluating and making plans for crisis situations
  to connect students with appropriate resources. Evaluate and implement accommodations for other health related circumstanced that do not
  fall under ADA, as well as accommodations related with Title IX.
• Works with Counseling and Support Services staff in contributing
  to the overall goal of maximizing students, and their success; assists in student activities, participates in developing and implementing
  strategies for goals that assist in continually improving the effectiveness of the Department. Conducts and/or participates in cross
  training with other Departments to maintain knowledge and skills across the college to provide excellence in the quality of service to
  students.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A
bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs. 

Preferred Qualifications

• A
  Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Human Services or other closely related field. 
• At least
  one year of related professional experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a higher education setting.
