Subject Matter Experts provide valuable real-world knowledge and experience to the development of the courses we offer
our students. This is a part-time/project-based position, where you would work with WGU as an Independent Contractor. Subject Matter Experts
must meet the following criteria:
Project information:
Scope of work: In the Course
Congruence Check, stakeholders look at the course curriculum and assessments and provide feedback on alignment. They perform an
aside-by-side comparison, answering one simple question: “Does the course provide adequate information for students to be successful on each
task prompt?” Reviewers answer”yes” or “no” for each prompt on the assessment. They also provide feedback on whether each rubric aspect
appropriately measures candidate competence of the corresponding task prompt. Once the review is complete, the QA Analyst will compile the
data, deliver the results to the college, and request a meeting to discuss the results and create an action plan for any needed
modifications. A quality assurance checks to compare all formative, summative, and culminating assessments with the curriculum to ensure
alignment or congruency between the assessment and the content.
Dates: Subject Matter Experts will be contacted
as projects come up throughout the year to see if they are available and interested in working on the project.
Time
commitment: Varies: 3 – 20 hours.
Subject Matter Experts will be provided with the exact number of hours they should
plan to work on the project prior to the start date. The work for quality assurance projects will be asynchronous and can be done around
your schedule.
Compensation:
$50 per hour
Meetings/ Workshops: All work
will be self-paced, and no specific meetings will be required. Meetings will be scheduled on an as-needed basis, or at the request of the
SME.
Other projects: Based on your experience and background we may contact you for other course development
projects throughout the year that encompasses: course design/development and assessment development.
Selected individuals
will be contacted with their next steps to complete the onboarding process.
