Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
Reporting to the Access Services Manager, this position supports Access Services, particularly staffing the Circulation desk, and assists with projects in the department.
Serves as backup to Circulation members. Requires evening and weekend hours. Staff the circulation desk, handling checkouts and check-ins, reserves, shelves books, and mailing items as necessary and/or delivering items across campus occasionally.
Remains up to date on library policies and procedures.Uses phone, email, and chat to answer questions about library services.
The employee may sometimes assist with Scholar Studio activities.
The regular schedule for this position is evenings: Sunday through Thursday, 6pm-10pm, and Hours will shift during exams, holidays, or other periods when library hours vary from the regular schedule.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position:
Knowledge and understanding of the mission of an academic library and circulation services; knowledge of integrated library systems; knowledge and experience with LC subject headings and the organization of library materials. Demonstrated ability to work well with the public, exhibiting a strong commitment to customer service; ability to accurately and independently perform detailed work according to established departmental guidelines and procedures; demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
