MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing or other healthcare related field required.

3. West Virginia state criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, required for DHHR regulated area.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Eight years healthcare experience with at least five years management experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Advanced degree in healthcare related field or Master’s in Healthcare Administration

3.On a continual basis, monitors all pertinent financial data, volumes of service, and statistical indicators to ensure budget compliance and serves as a guide for managerial decision making
4.Works with Executive Leadership to establish a Strategic Plan for the assigned services.
5.Define the resources required to implement the strategic plan and work with leaders across WVU & WVUHC to determine how the needed resources will be provided.
6.Plan, organize, implement and evaluate the delivery of patient care by empowering staff, coordinating activities between operating departments and by promoting patient satisfaction.
7.Select, hire, manage and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of employees and facilitate the professional development of all staff to ensure clinical practice competence.
8.Review staffing needs, handle employee issues, ensure that the staff in all areas have mandatory in-services and meet the job description requirements, and that all employee relations issues are handled within the Hospital’s policies promptly and appropriately.
9.Establish annual and long-term service line quality, service, and financial goals.
10. Develops operational and capital budgets for areas of responsibility in conjunction with Hospital Administration. Plans budgetary needs for each area and oversees the revenue and expenses throughout the year.
11.Responsible for long range planning and shorter term goal setting for each department in conjunction with the overall quality improvement program.
12.Develops quality filers, audits, and case reviews, identifying trends and sentinel events, and helping to outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
13.Makes recommendations for preparation in planning and implementing change, maintaining, and improving high quality patient care, and maintaining each assigned area as state-of-the-art as needed.
14.Responsible for the coordination, organization, and delegation of the operational aspects of each department to ensure the effective delivery of services.
15.Develops and monitors appropriate operational performance measures.
16.Oversees multidisciplinary patient care conferences in collaboration with other team members.
17.Maintains collaborative working relations with key physician and hospital leaders throughout WVUH, University Health Associates (UHA) and West Virginia University’s School of Medicine.
18.Assists leadership with the development and implementation of outreach and marketing strategies, including but not limited to, referral relations, community outreach, CME offerings, and advertising programs.
19.Represents assigned clinical areas, WVUH, UHA and SOM within the hospital and community through presentation and education activities.
20.Responsible for management of clinic space including but not limited to ensuring optimizing room utilization, patient safety and capital/equipment maintenance and budgeting.
21.Manages the testing of patients within the inpatient and outpatient areas and any subsequent locations to ensure timely, accurate and patient-centered care.
22.Ensures that testing is done in accordance with WVUH policy and procedure and in accordance with standards of the accepted professional organization or accrediting body.
23. Helps to coordinate research. Coordinates trials, testing and implementation of new technology and collaborates with other health care disciplines in the conduct of research.
24. Based upon institutional needs, assists with marketing efforts, develops annual goals and objectives for each department.
25.Assists the medical directors with the formulation and achievement of departmental goals.
26.Assures the delivery comprehensive stroke care through the coordination of patient care.
27. Responsible for the Maintenance of the Joint Commission and OHFLAC status or equivalent certification.
28. Oversees multidisciplinary patient care conferences in collaboration with other team members
29. Develops quality filters, audits and case reviews, identifying trends and sentinel events, and helping to outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
30.Communicates and enforces UHA, WVU School of Medicine, and WVUH corporate goals, decisions and operating guidelines to support staff. Facilitates internal and external communications for the department.
