Summary of Duties:
The Development Specialist provides multifaceted clerical support and reception duties. Duties include performing complex scheduling tasks utilizing electronic calendars; coordinating travel logistics; creating and/or drafting letters, memos, agendas, travel itineraries, fliers, reports, etc.; developing and/or maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and record keeping systems; and aiding with event planning and stewardship.
Coordinates scholarship committee and works with CAS departments. Review and prepare scholarship application packets for faculty to assessment. Prepare spreadsheets for award processing and assist faculty with making awards. Review and record all faculty scores. Prepare and send scholarship award letters, acceptance forms, etc. Responsible for ensuring student thank you letters and acceptance forms have been received at appropriate stages. Complete departmental authorization forms for release of funding to students (SARAS). In partnership with the Stewardship Coordinator, create, assemble, and distribute the scholarship packets for the donors including a letter from the Dean and student letters. Represent the College on the University Scholarship Coordinating Committee. Serve as liaison between students and Student Financial Services (SFS) and work with SFS when problems arise with scholarship awards. Review/reconcile award amounts against endowment reports to ensure accuracy. Meet with students and speak with student groups about the WSU scholarship and financial aid processes.
Coordinates gift use agreements (GUA’s) for the team and manages the GUA process. Prepares donor lists and other administrative support for the development team. Work with the Finance Area of the College and the Washington State University Foundation (WSUF) to make all necessary fundraising and event cash deposits. Work with WSUF staff on programs of mutual benefit to the College and WSUF.
Manages and reviews development budgets and processes reimbursements. Provides administrative support to the team and manages policies that insures high functioning processes and policies. Orders and maintains office supplies.
Additionally, this position serves as the initial friendly, welcoming, and efficient contact for the office; routes phone calls, emails/mail, and visitors to the appropriate person. The position must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communications skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook and Excel.
Customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience/knowledge of standard professional development processes.
Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships within the immediate work unit, the larger organization, outside agencies, and other organizations.
Experience in higher education with demonstrated knowledge of Washington State University operations, policies, and procedures.
Previous experience working with scholarships, financial aid or gift use documents
Customer service experience.

Monthly Salary: Range 42 | $3,537.00 to $4,723.00 (Step A – M) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
