The Department of Psychology at Wake Forest University invite applications for a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship beginning in August 2023. We are seeking a thoughtful, detail-oriented, and intellectually motivated individual to play a central role in implementing and disseminating innovative research on clarifying the personality trait profile of good thinkers and knowers. The position is funded by a research grant from the John Templeton Foundation. The candidate will work primarily with Drs. Eranda Jayawickreme (Psychology & Program for Leadership and Character) and William Fleeson (Psychology) and Juliette Ratchford (Psychology).
We are seeking applicants with a research program focused on intellectual traits/virtues and personality. We are particularly interested in scholars who have strong methodological experience designing, implementing, and analyzing intensive longitudinal studies (e.g., ESM, diary studies etc.) and studies examining personality structure (e.g., studies examining personality profiles). Evidence of strong empirical research and excellent quantitative skills is required, and familiarity with research on intellectual traits (e.g., open-mindedness, intellectual humility, actively open-minded thinking), intellectual character, personality or related concepts is preferred.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to determine the personality trait profile of good thinkers by coordinating and running empirical studies as described in the funded grant application. They will further conduct statistical analyses, prepare manuscripts for publication, work with and supervise undergraduate and graduate student researchers, and participate in interdisciplinary discussion groups. They should be committed to honesty, scientific integrity, intellectual virtue, advancing human welfare, benevolence, universalism, diversity and inclusion as core values. The post-doctoral research fellow will also participate in international conferences on intellectual traits/virtues, intellectual character, and personality, and have opportunities to develop collaborations with other scholars in the field.
