Wabash College invites applications for the position of Director of Financial Aid. Reporting to the Dean for Enrollment Management, the
Director of Financial Aid will play a vital role in strategically deploying institutional resources to meet enrollment and net tuition
revenue goals. The director will manage the Financial Aid Office and play an integral role in the College’s recruitment and retention
efforts. The director will provide leadership through collaboration with athletics, advancement, the business office, several campus-wide
committees, and outside enrollment consultants.
The Wabash Financial Aid Office provides financial assistance to approximately 700
returning students and 900 prospective students annually. The director is responsible for developing and directing financial aid strategies
within the framework of federal and state regulations that are consistent with the enrollment objectives of the College. This is
accomplished by administering need-based aid, merit-based scholarships, student employment, and loan programs. Providing a high level of
customer service is a top priority in helping families navigate through the financial aid application process and understanding their
financial aid award and financing options. The director will maintain an office that is approachable, friendly, and professional in its
interactions with parents and students. The position is campus-based, but does include flexibility for occasional remote work.
In
overseeing an aid budget of over $40 million, the director is responsible for programs involving federal, state, institutional, and local
funds. Managing the Financial Aid Office includes the direct supervision of three experienced, professional aid officers, and serving as a
liaison between college and state, region, and national professional organizations.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Five or
more years in a progressive management role in financial aid or a related higher education setting is preferred. Among the skills and
experiences being sought are:
• Knowledge of and ability to adhere to federal, state, and institutional financial aid
policies and procedures.• Experience with federal and institutional need analysis for packaging and counseling families.•
Evidence of controlling discount rate within a private education setting.• Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Slate is
preferred.• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.• Ability to deal effectively with a diverse student
body.• Detail oriented with excellent organization skills.• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and
objectives.• Adaptable to a constantly changing environment.
The anticipated start date is February 19, 2024, but is
negotiable. Salary will be determined by experience and educational level.
