Participates in the architecture, design, integration, and support of enterprise network solutions and standards for infrastructure components.

Provides direction, information, evaluation and recommendations regarding network solutions.

Takes responsibility for network design, requirements, implementation, performance and support of complex issues related to enterprise networks.

Position Responsibilities:

• Leads technical design, implementation and project work stream related to solutions. Works with other engineers, team members, and the customer to support daily operations.

• Establishes and maintains a modern, supportable networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards and policies.

• Acts as a consultant to Hospital Operations, POE, IT, Plant, Bio-Medical, Security Leadership to assist them in the development of their short and long term technology roadmaps. Includes collaborating to assist leaders to develop their annual budgets based on their strategic plans for medical equipment, communication, plant, and security systems.

• Works with key stakeholders to evaluate wireless technologies and device needs based on purchasing criteria, cost, functionality, and usability.

• Performs evaluation of network performance issues including: availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency, planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment, defining network policies and procedures, establishing connections and firewalls.

• Maximizes network performance by both monitoring and analyzing performance, troubleshooting problems, tuning, optimizing, and balancing.

• Development of purchasing criteria based on product performance and service level performance.

• Participates and assists in the management of the vendor and product selection process including identification of evaluation criteria, requests for Information (RFI) and vendor demos.

• Participates in the vendor contract review process involving all appropriate parties and collaborates with Purchasing, Legal and IS Management on contract negotiations.

• Secures network by implementing security, network access and controls to meet business needs and support policy. Defines network specifications by conferring with users, analyzing workflow, access, information, policy and security requirements, designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.

• Creates and manages Statement of Work, Detailed Work plan, Action Logs, Monthly Project Status, Design specification and documentation of outcomes and ensures a smooth transition from Project to Support. Develops and manages project budget including the tracking of Invoices, Purchase Orders, Payments, Consultant Time and Travel, operating within budgetary guidelines and justifying variances.

• Adheres to IS Business Practices and available for 24/7 support as needed.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

10+ years’ experience with networking technologies at scale.

10+ years of experience working in critical computing service production environments.

Expert-level understanding of LAN/WAN protocols and technologies.

Expert-level understanding of routing protocols including but not limited to OSPF, EIGRP and BGP etc.

Significant experience supporting VoIP telephony technologies including SIP and H.323.

Security experience – Cisco ASA, SourceFire, Gigamon, NAC, Aruba ClearPass, Dual-Factor authentication.

Wireless experience – Aruba and Cisco.

Ability to partner and influence across the organization to achieve work completion through individuals not under their direct control.

Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to secure results through others.

High degree of initiative and dependability.

Experience managing multiple, simultaneous, significant projects and initiatives.

Ability to work with little supervision.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

Additional IT Certifications such as those from VMware, Juniper and Microsoft a plus.

Experience leading large, complex projects from design to completion.

Experience leading project teams.

Infrastructure Architecture experience in a large corporate environment.

Broad understanding of leading technologies and industry trends.

Experience communicating with senior management.

Advanced experience with vendor contract negotiations.

Experience creating and documenting procedures and business practices.

Required Education:

Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or commensurate experience.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Cisco Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE and Cisco Voice.
