Full-time 1 day ago Full Job Description Position(s) eligible for teleworking The Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), a 2022 ATD Best Winner in Talent Development is seeking Medicaid Managed Care Advocate to support the work of the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, which advocates in the interests of, and on behalf of long-term care recipients, assisting them to understand their rights and access needed care and services.
The position operates as a part of the Medicaid Managed Care Advocate (Advocate) team, which specifically supports the Ombudsman Program’s responsibilities in carrying out an independent beneficiary support system, which provides informational guidance and problem-solving assistance to individuals (members) receiving Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) under the state’s Medicaid Managed Care system (Cardinal Care).
The Advocate team of which this position is an integral part directly assists beneficiaries to understand and exercise their rights under Medicaid Managed Care and to overcome obstacles and resolve problems with their care and services.
The goal is to help members receive the appropriate care and services to reach their goals in realizing their highest practicable quality of health and well-being.
The individual holding this position delivers person-centered assistance and support, providing information on eligibility, services, rights, and problem-solving.
The position plays a critical, collaborative role in identifying issues/problems that need to be addressed systematically and supports outreach efforts deemed appropriate under the unit’s strategic plans and the Manager’s direction.
The Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, within the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, develops and oversees a statewide program that advocates on behalf of long-term care recipients.
The Office trains, supports, and provides programmatic oversight for a statewide network of trained and certified representatives who assist long-term care recipients in addressing and resolving problems with long-term care – whether in facilities or in home and community settings.
Data on program activities (including complaint issues and investigation) is utilized to shape systematic advocacy initiatives designed to protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of long-term care recipients and to improve the quality of long-term care.
Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate will have:
Working knowledge of Medicaid Managed Care, Fee-for-Service Medicaid, and Medicare as well as a solid understanding of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the quality of long-term care, and rights of Medicaid beneficiaries.
Experience in advocacy on behalf of populations facing challenges related to aging and/or disability.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft products and other computer software.
Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team, excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, both professional and non-professional, with varied educational and cultural backgrounds and/or physical and mental disabilities.
Skills in negotiating and mediating.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
