Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Chemist to join our Applications Development Center (ADC) located in Ashland, VA.
The successful candidate will provide functional and technical assistance in the laboratory, including performing chemical and biological analyses, conducting research both in the laboratory and field, setting up and executingsampling and testing programs. Ability to apply your knowledge of principles and practices of chemistry, biology, microbiology, and mathematics required in an analytical laboratory setting. Experience with the use of standard laboratory practices + QA/QC procedures, and other applicable standards to collect and analyze samples of water, wastewater, and industrial process water for a variety of environmental test conditions.
Main Responsibilities:
* Responsible for performing basic and instrumental laboratory analyses as associated with
water and wastewater treatment;
* Perform physical and chemical analyses of water and wastewater samples according to
documented requirements and in accordance with established in-house and EPA
procedures;
* Wet chemistry analyses including colorimetric, titrations, gravimetric, and microbial
analysis;
* Senior-level experience with a minimum of 5 years operating ICP and ICP/MS;
* Experience with instrumental analyses via UV/VIS, TOC, GC, GC/MS, IC, Lachat Flow Analyzer, and AFS;
* Perform, troubleshoot, and maintain proper maintenance and calibration procedures for analytical instrumentation;
* Provide analytical support for commercial business groups including sales & marketing and research & development;
* Assist in the preparation and writing of technical papers and reports;
* Maintain all laboratory operations in accordance with the quality assurance and chemical hygiene plan including maintenance and equipment logs;
* Prepare, support, and assist in the writing of technical papers and reports;
* Accountable for data quality & timeliness of work; Human Resources
* Adheres to all VWTS twelve lifesaving rules, EHS safety requirements and procedures.
Role Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in chemistry preferred; chemical engineering, biology, or environmental
science acceptable
* 5+ years of experience in a process chemistry or environmental laboratory setting
* Technical understanding & working knowledge of applicable instrumentation and standard EPA methodologies related to water and wastewater treatment.

* Proficiency in both verbal and written communication, inclusive working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google platform tools

* Strong Team orientation
* Ability to stand up to 8 hours, bend, stoop, reach, and twist during various tasks
throughout the day +lift up to 70lbs.
