Overview
This position directly oversees Utah State University Police Department Property & Evidence, as well as Records management needs. This position will perform property technician duties, such as receiving documents or other evidentiary materials, safely and securely store evidentiary objects, monitor, and properly release/dispose of all applicable evidence in control of the police department. In addition, serve as the departmental Records Custodian and Quartermaster.
The role will be responsible for tracking and maintaining departmental records via applicable database or hard copy preservation, as well as document or video redaction. The position issues, maintains and documents the disposition of police department owned property when assigned to department personnel.
This role will set goals and performance expectations in harmony with Utah State University Police Department objectives. In association with departmental command staff, this position will create deadlines, organize workflow, ensure that other employees understand their associated responsibilities as related to property, evidence, and records, designate role applicable tasks, and monitor departmental equipment.
This position reports to the Police Captain.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on specific function of the work each unit supervises. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
Outdoors, incumbents are not protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises, vibrations, from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects around 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time. Incumbents nearly continuously listen, hear, and talk.
