The University System of Georgia (USG) is comprised of 26 higher education institutions as well as the University System Office (USO). Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.
Location
The primary work location for this position is Georgia Public Library Services (GPLS) – 2872 Woodcock Blvd #250 Atlanta, GA 30341. There is opportunity for remote work. Position will require some travel to public libraries across Georgia.

The communications and marketing team leads public awareness efforts for Georgia Public Library Service, delivering key messages to external audiences about the value of libraries in our communities. We publish Library News magazine and lead email marketing, social media, media relations, branding, photography and video services, and more. Job Summary
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and day-to-day execution of marketing campaigns, as well as strategic oversight of georgialibraries.org, with the goal of increasing engagement and awareness of activities at the Georgia Public Library Service and in Georgia’s public libraries.
Responsibilities
·In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Director, creates and implements marketing campaigns to raise awareness of and engagement with public libraries in Georgia.
·Develops and implements digital media strategy, including oversight of georgialibraries.org, to increase digital engagement and awareness of activities at the Georgia Public Library Service and in Georgia’s public libraries.
·Creates and designs printed and online marketing materials
·Leads digital and social media strategy and execution, including development of creative, multimedia content for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.
·Provides guidance, support, and leadership for public library systems in Georgia in regards to digital presence, web content, and marketing.
·Conducts training opportunities to share best practices in marketing and web content creation.
·Uses data and analytics to drive decisions that will increase effectiveness of email engagement, website and social media assets.
·Produce videos for social media and website.
·Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor¿s degree and three to five years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience
The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of related experience in marketing or communications. They must also possess excellent graphic design and web skills, written and verbal communication skills, be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and experience working with social media applications as well as WordPress, Photoshop, Canva, Google Forms, and Google Office/Microsoft Word. Photography or videographer experience is a plus but not required.
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary range for this position is $59,666 – $65,000

Knowledge of CMS software packages (particularly WordPress)
Knowledge of HTML, PHP, MySQL and CSS coding (Helpful but not required)
Graphic design skills, knowledge of Adobe CS
Web layout design and web usability best practices

Knowledge of best practices in social media planning and management
Skill in writing clear instructions and training materials
