Renewable Senior Lecturer Position (100%) in Legal Studies

POSITION: Senior Lecturer in the Legal Studies program located within the Legal Studies & Criminal Justice Program, Department of Human Behavior, Justice and Diversity. This position is a 100% annual renewable instructional academic staff position hired on an academic year basis.
DUTIES:
1. Instruction of 12 credits or their equivalent per semester in the legal studies/criminal justice curriculum.
2. Ongoing commitment and documentation of quality teaching and innovative learning methods (both face to face and online).
3. Manage an assigned load of academic advisees.
4. Advisement to student organizations as needed by the program.
5. Curriculum development, revision and maintenance, as needed.
6. Service to the Legal Studies-Criminal Justice program, the Human Behavior, Justice & Diversity Department, University community and justice/law community in the region.
7. Continued professional growth as evidenced by an appropriate combination of the following: involvement in professional associations and relevant contribution to local, regional and national law and/or justice related organizations and groups.
8. Participation in Promoting Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETL) Orientation and mentoring program in the fall semester of the first year.
9. Engage in program service activities such as assessment, scheduling, marketing, recruitment and retention, community partner outreach and recruitment, and other program related support as designated by the program.
10. Become an engaged full-time member of the Legal Studies & Criminal
Justice Program.
11. Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
12. Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
13. Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
• Juris Doctorate (JD) or a master’s degree in Legal Studies or justice-related discipline
• Demonstrated teaching experience in varied modalities including in person, synchronous online and/or asynchronous online formats and/or community presentations.
This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

SALARY: Salary range for this position is: $44,000 – $46,000 annually. Additionally, UWS offers a competitive salary and benefits package including health insurance coverage for eligible dependents. Learn more here:

UW-Superior, A Superior Place:
The University will not reveal the identities of applicants who request confidentiality in writing, except that the identities of “final candidates” must be revealed upon request. According to the Attorney General, “final candidates” under Wisconsin law means the five candidates who are considered most qualified for the position. See Wis. Stat. Sec. 19.36(7)(a).
