Job Summary:
International Student Services (ISS) seeks an individual committed to inclusive international student advising. International Student Advisors work as a team to educate and empower students to make informed decisions to maintain F/J nonimmigrant status, foster a sense of belonging on campus, and are committed to student data privacy and data integrity. Advisors collaborate with campus partners to support inclusive academic and co-curricular access.
This position reports to the associate director for advising services. ISS serves over 6,000 F/J nonimmigrant students and over 1,000 alumni on post-completion employment authorization. We utilize Terra Dotta ISSS batch software to maintain F/J international student compliance and communications.
Responsibilities:
Interprets federal immigration regulations, leads student visa workshops, and advises international students to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Supports students’ cultural adjustment and promotes intercultural learning.

Education:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree in international relations, global education, counseling or related field
Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience solving complex problems in cross-cultural contexts
Demonstrated commitment to social justice education and inclusive engagement
Demonstrated cross-cultural competency and written/verbal communication skills for diverse and multilingual audiences
Customer service in a fast-paced environment with competing demands
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated proficiency with technology tools
Position requires proof of U.S. citizenship/legal permanent residence to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), per Department of Homeland Security.
Preferred skills/qualifications
Experience supervising/mentoring university students; knowledge of student leadership and identity development
Demonstrated knowledge of federal immigration regulations for F and J non-immigrant students
Previous Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) experience
Experience with Terra Dotta ISSS software and PeopleSoft Student Information System
Experience living, working, or studying abroad
Proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English
