Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s General Library system seeks an innovative and collaborative leader to oversee collections strategy at our world-class research and teaching institution. The Collections Strategist provides leadership and direction for the General Library System’s collection development and collection management operations. This position collaborates with library staff from across campus and at other institutions to facilitate access to information resources in support of the university’s teaching, research, and service missions. This position reports to the Interim Director of Collections. The Collections Strategist supervises one full-time academic staff member.

Responsibilities:
Participates in long term strategic planning, and solves complex issues which may impact more than one unit or service and may supervise staff. Collaborates across units and initiates input on policies and procedures, typically through committee work, to advance services and operations and assists in continual service improvement and innovation.

Master’s Degree
MLS or equivalent degree required.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum of five years working in professional positions in academic libraries or academic library consortia
* Experience managing budgets
* Experience working with vendors
* Supervisory experience
* Strong communication skills
* Demonstrated knowledge of collection management
Preferred Qualifications:
* Collection development experience in an academic library
* Experience with enterprise library systems such as Ex Libris/ALMA and OCLC
* Demonstrated knowledge of licensing for e-resources
* Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and visualization
* Experience creating policies or procedures
Work Type:
Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Hybrid work schedule is typically 60% onsite and 40% remote work.
Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
