Job Summary:
The Statewide Beef Outreach Specialist is one of several exciting new positions in the UW-Madison Division of Extension, designed to work to incorporate research findings into outreach to beef producers and agribusiness professionals across the state.
The Outreach Specialist will work with Extension colleagues to identify needs and develop and maintain robust, high-quality outreach education programs to find solutions to the most critical beef management issues facing Wisconsin producers. In particular, the Outreach Specialist will collaborate with a team to develop outstanding educational programs to support the improvement and advancement of Wisconsin’s beef industry.
This position is a part of the Agriculture Institute’s Dairy and Livestock program and will focus on:- Assessing and helping producers and agribusiness professionals implement practices that improve beef production, beef management, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, and animal health and welfare.
Responsibilities:
Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.

Qualifications:
Required:
* Three or more years relevant professional experience
* Demonstrated experience with listed job responsibilities
* Demonstrated skills in interpreting, utilizing and applying evidence-based information and research findings
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
* Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
Preferred:
* Strong interpersonal relationship and problem-solving skills in a team setting
* Demonstrated experience with building diverse, collaborative partnerships
* Experience in group facilitation to support needs identification, decision making and stakeholder engagement with complex issues
* Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific materials in written and verbal forms for a variety of lay and other audiences
* Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to communicate effectively
* Demonstrated ability to write grants and establish partnerships that pool or leverage public and private funds in support of the Institutional mission.

Additional Information:
* The final job location will be negotiable with the finalist.
* The primary accountability relationship for these positions is the Dairy & Livestock Outreach Program Manager for supervision, compensation, benefits and performance reviews.
* Assume occasional travel within the state.
* Expectation to make arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions.
* Work evenings and weekends as needed to meet programming needs.
