The Office of Curriculum in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a Medical Education Coordinator to provide operational, administrative, and fiscal support for The Foundations of Clinical Medicine (FCM) Program including the Patient Student Partnership (PSP) program. FCM is a longitudinal four-year program that teaches students the practice of medicine-both the science and the art in all of its subtleties. Core to the program are 26 physician coaches from multiple specialties, each responsible for teaching clinical skills (history taking, relationship building, physical examination, differential diagnosis, etc.) to their 24 students. Within the FCM program, PSP pairs first-year medical students with UVA patients whom they will follow through the four years of medical school. Through the PSP program, students become doctors who are advocates for their patients, communicate medical information clearly, and are committed to understanding the social circumstances that affect patients’ health.
The successful incumbent will be highly organized with strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. Medical Education Coordinators participate in the planning, preparing, and implementing of programs, daily operations, orientation, workshops, and educational activities for undergraduate medical education. They develop materials, coordinate calendars, interact with educational program participants and ensure compliance with relevant national organizations to maintain high standards of the programs they support.
