The School of Education and Human Development (EHD) seeks applicants for an Academic Program Officer for the Department of Leadership, Foundations, and Policy (EDLF). This position will a restricted term-limited position lasting one year from the date of hire. Additionally, the position is part-time position working up to 20 hours per week.
The EDLF department provides masters and doctoral education and undergraduate courses that prepare a new generation of professionals to engage in innovative research and practice related to foundations of education, research methods, human development, leadership, higher education, and policy. We seek a candidate who is enthusiastic about helping to shape program culture and fostering a strategy of program improvement.
Under the direction of the Education Leadership, Foundations and Policy (EDLF) Department Administrator, the selected candidate will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment to enhance student engagement and success in the EDLF department. In particular, the candidate will support the success of the EDLF Social Foundations and Higher Education graduate programs from the marketing and recruitment stage through matriculation, key milestones, graduate and alumni engagement. To accomplish this, the candidate will be expected to use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance program enrollment, retention, and outcomes. Additionally, the candidate will advise and assist Program Coordinators, Faculty, Department Administrator and Department Chair in planning process improvements and to support any large program transitions (i.e. supporting the transition of Social Foundations to a fully online M.Ed program, supporting the Higher Education Internship Program).

This position will be a part-time, .5FTE one-year benefitted limited position. The position is remote with occasional travel to grounds in Charlottesville, Virginia required. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to provide student support.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Master’s Degree Required. Bachelor’s Degree and relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of Master’s Degree.
Experience: Four years of relevant experience.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
