The University of Virginia’s Research Computing (RC) group seeks temporary employees for a variety of open positions. These positions support University faculty and researchers, assisting them with UVA Research Computing services to produce computing solutions within their fields of research, and provide system architecture and administrative support for UVA’s high-performance computing platforms. Below are some of the positions which temporary employees could assume:

The ideal candidate has an outgoing personality with a passion for providing high-quality services, enjoys supporting and educating academic researchers, has some experience with academic computing, and is able to apply those skills to UVA’s research computing environment. We seek energetic self-starters and quick learners who enjoy technical problem solving and working on multiple projects simultaneously, have strong communication skills, and are team players. The ideal candidate will have research experience in bioinformatics, life science or data science.
The Research Computing group offers flexible telecommuting options, a friendly, diverse, and inclusive work environment in a small group (less than 25 staff), and a supportive workplace.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
