The University of Virginia’s Vice President for Research is seeking a Senior Program Manager to support the award administration of projects from the University’s Grand Challenges. The Grand Challenges initiatives have the potential to transform a critical area of knowledge or operation at the University. This position will serve as a key staff member that will work closely with Grand Challenge awardees, the SIF Post-award Assessment Committee (PAC), and other areas that support the work of these projects. This position will be responsible for managing and tracking awards made under the program. They will help assess and track progress on the awarded projects goals and create reports and presentations for the leadership. The position will help develop systems and processes for the tracking and review of projects. Duties combine administrative responsibilities and program outreach. This position will work independently with project leaders and report to the Office of the VP for Research.
The Program Manager will collaborate with the Office of the Executive Vice President & Provost and the SIF Post-Award Assessment Committee to strengthen the SIF administration process. The Program Director will be the primary point of contact with project awardees. They will facilitate the collection of updated award information, work with awardees to clarify project milestones, and effectively communicate project progress to leadership. They will maintain clear financial and reporting information for each of the awards and track outcomes and statistics as needed to enable the University to achieve further leadership and distinction.
This is a two-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed for an additional two-year increment, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
Communication and Outreach
Facilitate information for press releases
Act as primary contact with funded project members and partners
Create reports on funded projects
Create presentations as needed for SIF Post-Award Committee and other stakeholders
Partnership Building
Oversee logistics of programming with all partners.
Interact with all awarded projects to clearly communicate expectations for the award, timing of deliverables and format/timing of reporting information.
Partner with departments that support the work of SIF awards
Program Management
Manage awards programs, including facilitating updated scope of works and budget for approved awards, assist in review process, tracking success metrics for funded award
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Masters degree in relevant subject is strongly preferred.
Experience: At least seven years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
