This position is listed for a Pharmacy Technician General. Applicants with prior hospital or health system pharmacy experience may be eligible for Cross-Trained or Specialist positions with a higher pay range.
The UVA Health System Pharmacy Technician Training Program is here to help you start a career as a registered pharmacy technician. Our program, which partners with Pharmacy Technician University, will give you all of the skills and knowledge you need to be a versatile, effective pharmacy technician in a variety of settings including hospital and retail pharmacy. Training is provided on the job, and you’ll receive pay and benefits while completing the program requirements. Classroom and experiential training will take place at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Training includes:
•Online classroom training through Pharmacy Technician University
•Experiential training in our state-of-the-art community pharmacy
•Preparation for passing the national certification exam
Candidates accepting a position will continue in their role as a pharmacy technician after completing the program and achieving their Virginia registration. Candidates must complete Pharmacy Technician University and achieve registration within 6 months of employment.

Position Compensation Range: $19.49 – $30.21 Hourly
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
License/Certification: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred. PTCB Certification required within 9 months of employment.
