The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal and Fetal Medicine, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks applicants for a tenure-eligible position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are seeking an energetic and collaborative new partner to join our division which has a strong commitment to clinical care, education, and research. Rank, tenure status, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
The University of Virginia is the sole tertiary-care referral center for Central Virginia and our growth in clinical volume allows the opportunity for faculty expansion. The Division has an active and diverse in-patient and out-patient high-risk prenatal service, that provides an excellent source for clinical research material as well as provides a full range of clinical and prenatal diagnosis services. Department wide, there is an active and diverse obstetrics team which includes Generalists and midwives. UVA’s obstetric services have received consistent national recognition, including Leapfrog and Newsweek’s Best Maternity Hospitals, and we are a member of the HRSA-funded Premier Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative. UVA Medical Center is a certified Baby Friendly Hospital. The Department has an outstanding compliment of faculty and resident staff, which is given appropriate resources for research, including basic science laboratories, both supported by the Department and the University.
In 2018 UVA accepted its first Fellow in Maternal Fetal Medicine and we currently have one fellow per year accepted to the program. Faculty candidates with demonstrated excellence in education, research and clinical arenas may be eligible to be considered for the MFM Fellowship Director role for the UVA program if their academic interests align with this duty.
