Office/Prgm Support Generalist

Posting Summary:
Provide administrative support for the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG). Support undergraduate and graduate teaching faculty and department committees, assist department faculty in the creation of the undergraduate and graduate teaching schedule of courses and serve as primary contact for all teaching and evaluation data entry and correspondence. Support Vice-Chair for Education in the development of new courses and curricula. Prepare and disseminate minutes for committee meetings. Provide administrative support for the department’s Pre-Doctoral Training grant. Coordinate and execute symposiums, events and programmatic meetings per year. Work with designated faculty to coordinate and execute the MMG and the Immunology specialty seminar series, including developing agendas, coordinating travel, and processing required paperwork for payment and reimbursement of visiting speakers. Provide general department administrative support: copy, scan and prepare documents; schedule meetings and rooms; maintain department-wide documents; and order supplies.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Associate’s degree in related field and one to three years’ related experience required. Working knowledge of software applications used to support office functions, such as word processing and spreadsheets, and familiarity with Internet resources required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills required. Effective writing and organizational skills required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Prior administrative and academic research-related experience desirable.

Bargaining unit position, Non-standard work hours required, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position
