The University of Texas Permian Basin’s
Department of Community and Family Health welcomes applications for the position of Parent Educator with our PAT
Program
Salary Range
$44,000.00 depending on qualifications
Essential Functions
This
position is responsible for recruiting and outreach activities for the program, providing regular home visits to program participants
(a.k.a. “families”), including all components of a Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visit, responding to questions from participants,
completing assessments/screenings, planning and implementing group connections for participants, and accurately documenting services within
given deadlines.
1. Recruit and maintain a caseload of PAT families as assigned by the PAT Supervisor in alignment with PAT model
guidance.
2. Serve families via traditional delivery (in-home), via teleservice/interactive video conferencing, or via a hybrid approach
based on identified family needs and model best practices.
3. Attend regular staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the PAT Supervisor,
and periodic professional development and other training.
4. Support families via regular home visits, information and activity delivery,
and respond to questions or concerns families may have.
5. Conduct assessments/screenings, review scores with families, and refer to
community supports as needed.
6. Organize and implement group connections and special events for families throughout the year.
7.
Connect families to community resources relevant to family needs, follow-up with resource connections, and properly document resource
connections and progress notes.
8. Conduct outreach and recruitment activities for the program and the department throughout the
year.
9. Accurately document all service provision, both electronically and physically, within designated timeframes.
10. Maintain
accurate timesheets and all other reporting as required by the department and/or grant guidelines.
11. Participate in the data collection
and data entry of evaluation instruments to measure progress and impact of the PAT program.
Required Qualifications
1.
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, case management, public health, home visiting, or other related field.
2.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
3. Ability to travel to multiple locations within Midland and Ector
counties.
4. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Six (6) months
relevant experience in early childhood and/or prevention services.
2. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

4. Employees must be able and willing to travel and perform duties away
from campus as necessary and must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a
valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
5. Employment is contingent upon a successful
background check.

Schedule
Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through
Thursday, 7:30 – 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available
early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some
departments.
Standard Working Conditions
1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional
basis.
2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
4. Able to
remain standing up to 15% of the time.
5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work,
operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
