Purpose of Position
Applies principles of accounting to institutional, state and federal financial information, including Title IV financial aid and
scholarship programs. Monitors donor account expenditures and balances, prepares adjusting/journal entries, performs and accountable for
fund reconciliations, and creates and produces a variety of financial reports.
Essential Functions
Compiles and
analyzes federal, state and institutional financial aid and scholarship information to prepare entries to accounts in the University’s
student information systems.
Monitors grants, scholarships, work-study and loan expenditures, encumbrances, allocations, receivables,
etc., based on various reports and disbursement schedules.
Manages and monitors all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring
compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates,
and the impact of significant changes to all types of funds. Prepares narrative reports that explain findings and recommendations.
Analyzes financial aid and scholarship reports detailing funding information and prepares reports that summarize and interpret current
and projected financial/fund positions.
In conjunction with the Management Team, establishes financial and operating benchmarks,
budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Implements consistent accounting
policies, practices, and procedures across all financial assistance programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by
remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies
in financial entries, documents and reports.
Determines proper handling of financial transactions.
Ensures financial records
and internal controls are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal, state and institutional regulations,
policies and procedures.
Maintains necessary working papers and supporting documentation related to journal entries and account
reconciliations.
Assists in the preparation of federal, state and institutional budgets, reconciliations and annual reports.
Possesses knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use institutional software systems.
Provides
excellent customer service to students with account questions.
Assists with various special projects as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No
supervisory responsibilities.
Required Qualifications

Bachelors
Degree in Accounting or Degree in Business Administration with 15 credit hours in accounting from four-year College or University.
Two years of work experience performing accounting tasks as listed in the Statement of Duties and Responsibilities.
Preferred
Qualifications
Previous experience working in a college or university environment
Bilingual in Spanish
Three (3)
years of proven customer service experience
Previous experience using third-party scholarship software
Banner experience a
plus
