We use multiregion neural recording techniques to study how circuits across the brain send commands to control movement during different behavioral states. The results from our work will lead to a better understanding of how neural computation produces behavior–and will inform new approaches for treating neurological conditions and building brain machine interfaces. The lab uses a variety of methods to record from hundreds of neurons simultaneously, employs tissue-clearing techniques to perform whole-brain histology, and uses computational modeling approaches to make sense of our data. Job Responsibilities
The Senior Research Investigator (SRI) will assist the Principal Investigator and play a leading role in developing our research program and will play a crucial role both in all aspects of research products including development and implementation. In the development stage, the SRI will assess proposed projects by conducting feasibility studies to provide valuable input regarding viability, efficiency, timeline, and study design. In the implementation stage, he/she will supervise and perform the project. This includes overseeing workflow and productivity of lab personnel and providing training to them on specific techniques as necessary. Finally, the SRI will be responsible for data analysis, preparation of manuscripts, and presenting research findings through various forums.
Position is contingent on continued funding.
Qualifications
Ph.D., Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience or equivalent doctoral degree and 5 to 7 years post doctoral experience required. Prefer candidates proficient in both computational data analyses as well as with experimental systems neuroscience along with a strong publication record; preference will be given for candidates with substantial experience in early visual system physiology, large scale electrical recording techniques, large scale imaging techniques, mouse virtual reality behaviors, and hippocampal physiology.
