Job Description
The Senior Associate Director, Speaker Management and Donor Events works closely with development, stewardship and alumni relations staff on all VIP and regional programming to ensure the quality of events and to manage the goals and expectations of these programs to support the overall strategy for the department. This position plays a key role in the planning, strategy and execution of donor and stewardship events and will often interact and communicate with board members and high-level donors. This position also plays a pivotal role in managing all speakers — both internal and external — that are confirmed to participate in External Affairs programs and events. This involves working closely with high-caliber speakers and Wharton faculty in all aspects of pre-planning through post event to ensure the highest quality of experience for our speakers and audience. This position will play key support roles in our flagship events including Wharton Global Forum, Executive Board Meetings, and MBA Reunions and they will have oversight of a staff member.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent years of experience required with 5-7 years of meeting planning experience with a preference for experience in conference planning. 7-10 years of experience preferred. Prior speaker management experience a plus. Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills required. Must be highly organized and self-initiating while working as a member of a team in a goal-oriented environment. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is essential. Frequent evening and weekend work required. Some international and domestic travel required. Must have valid driver’s license and passport. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
