Job Description Summary
The candidate will work in the Pathology Department in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). Our major goals are to increase scientific knowledge in viral infection and immunity fields. The research requires basic knowledge of multiple scientific disciplines including molecular and cell biology, virology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biotechnology. Our major goals are to increase scientific knowledge in human immunity and viral immunity fields. Research performed ranges from basic research to conducting pre-clinical research. Our research is carried out using human and other primary cell models. We study human viral pathogens including the Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Research Specialist will be involved in planning, conducting and analyzing experiments aimed to evaluate the antiviral activity of drugs against SARS-CoV-2 and understand the immune response to viruses. Research specialist will perform experiments related to the analyses of infection and immunity. These studies involve tissue and cell processing, and molecular biology techniques such as: qPCR, cytokine profiling, and RNAseq sample preparation. Research Specialist will carry out experiments independently or under the supervision of the lab PI.
Plans and conducts complex experiments to meet research project objectives. Performs laboratory experiments independently. Oversee overall management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Adapts existing assays and develops new assays and with Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental work and set ups in accordance to established protocols. Responsible for performance management, data management and reviews. The candidate must be capable of maintaining articulate documentation of daily tasks and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate will analyze and prepare reports on data generated.

Research Specialist D: independently design, perform and plan assigned experiments, develop protocols and assays. Indendently troubleshoots experiments; analyze and interpret results including statistical analysis. Read relevant scientific literature and journals, share the results of research with colleagues through presentations and discussions, help in preparations of presentations and in writing of original manuscripts. Prepare data in organized formats and helps prepare for presentations to collaborators and granting agencies.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree with 3-5 years of related experience in research, clinical study, project and people management or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
