Job Responsibilities
The University of Pennsylvania (Phila, PA) seeks a Research Specialist C to conduct research in the function and mechanism of Primary cilia, IFT protein and GPCR/RGS proteins in bone and tooth developments and related diseases. Develop and create different bone disease models including osteoporosis, calvaria bone defect, fracture, arthritis, and bone cancer. Generate and genotype transgenic and knockout mouse models. Evaluate the genetic and disease animal models, isolate, and culture primary cells from different tissues, and perform mouse phenotype and genotype as well as histological analyses using different equipment and approaches. Train, guide and support students and postdoctoral fellows to create different animal models using different equipment and approaches to complete their projects. Carry out lab management including routine lab management and lab supplies purchase.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Biology, Biochemistry or closely related field. 3 years of experience creating osteoporosis model, calvaria bone defect model, fracture models, arthritis models and bone and oral cancer models. 3 years of experience screening mouse germline transmission of gene conditional knockout mice and genotyping and analysis of transgenic mouse models using different analyzing approaches. 3 years of experience isolating and culturing primary cells from different tissues especially from bone marrow and skeleton and performing histological analysis. 3 years of experience performing bone and cellular related assays with different equipment such as flow cytometry, micro-CT, mechanical loading, etc. 3 years of experience training and guiding students and postdoc for handling animals and cell cultures and 2 years of experience in routine lab management, and lab
supplies purchase using university purchase systems.
