The research specialist will be working closely with the Principal Investigator and other lab members on publication-generating projects. Prior experience with the following techniques is required: DNA/RNA extraction, molecular cloning, PCR, Q-PCR, genotyping, Western blotting, cell culture. Experience with the following techniques is highly desired: ChIP, CRISPR screening, in-situ tissue DNA FISH, AAV purification, Next-Gen Sequencing. The position requires the daily handling of mice, including genotyping, as well as careful tracking and record keeping of mouse colonies. Job Responsibilities
·Design, troubleshoot, and carry out experiments independently (e.g., PCR, cloning, ChIP, CRISPR screening, DNA FISH, AAV purification, NGS).
·Perform mouse husbandry, including genotyping, and keep detailed records of mouse colonies.
·Keep a detailed lab notebook.
·Data analysis and oral and written presentation of results. Generate figures and participate in writing sections of manuscripts.
·Stay up to date on relevant literature.
·Train and supervise incoming lab members and students.
·Participate in lab management including maintenance of reagents and supplies, receiving supplies and overseeing equipment.
Qualifications
Prior experience in the following techniques is required: DNA/RNA extraction, molecular cloning, PCR, Q-PCR, genotyping, Western blotting, cell culture.
Can work independently, strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong multitasking abilities and an extremely high-level of reliability and dependability.
Excellent organizational record keeping skills are required.
