Job Description Summary
Facilitate an integration of research administrative services as part of an innovative team charged with optimizing support for the School’s research mission. Manage and coordinate the electronic proposal submission process for Principal Investigators; maintain knowledge of complex processes and continually changing sponsor guidelines; develop and manage timelines, track progress, and ensure accuracy. Develop standard to complex budgets; ensure regulatory and administrative compliance with sponsor, School and University policies and procedures. Work both independently and as a team, as appropriate, to oversee and manage sponsored project activity for assigned faculty and other grant holders; ensure the integrity of financial transactions in compliance with regulations; develop effective partnerships with faculty, project managers and other grant holders. Provide full-service account management for sponsored program accounts; respond to inquiries. Coordinate and monitor the flow of transactions related to the financial activity of specified accounts; review, validate and approve grant expenditures. Prepare preliminary reports for ORS: Post-Award. Provide leadership for the electronic proposal submission process; maintain current knowledge of all new and changing requirements; ensure others are informed and educate as appropriate. Maintain current knowledge about Responsible Conduct of Research, Human and Animal Subject research, IRB, FCOI, and federal and institutional policies.

Job Responsibilities

Develop standard to complex budgets; ensure regulatory and administrative compliance with sponsor, School and University policies and procedures.
Oversee and manage sponsored project activity for assigned faculty and other grant holders; ensure the integrity of financial transactions in compliance with regulations; develop effective partnerships with faculty, project managers and other grant holders.
Provide full-service account management for sponsored program accounts; respond to inquiries. Coordinate and monitor the flow of transactions related to the financial activity of specified accounts; review, validate and approve grant expenditures. Prepare preliminary reports for Research Accounting as a basis for reporting to sponsoring agencies and works closely with that office to assure accurate and timely reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior sponsored project compliance knowledge with solid grant proposal, budget, financial and post award management experience needed. We are seeking a candidate that poses a proactive work style with strong follow up skills, ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures; excellent oral and written communication skills. Superb customer service skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels in a fast paced environment using sound judgment essential.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong initiative and a results orientation. Must be a collaborative team player with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines essential. Strong skills in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software are required. Experience with PennERA, BEN Financials, and Business Objects is strongly preferred. Knowledge of sponsored research guidelines and policies is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required.
