Job Responsibilities

• Review, interpret and implement electronic proposal submissions including both internal and external systems, compiles and edits proposals in collaboration with faculty.
• Maintain knowledge of sponsor guidelines from pre-award through close-out • Maintain knowledge of complex processes and continuing revisions and upgrades.
• Liaison with internal and external sponsors in order to facilitate application process. • Develop timelines in consultation with faculty to track progress and to ensure deadlines are met.
• Develop and coordinate review of applications for award; ensure financial, administrative and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure accuracy of all administrative pieces of the application; prepare standard to complex budgets as needed.
• Create ERA Commons accounts for School of Nursing faculty, staff and students, as needed
Oversee and manage sponsored project activity for assigned faculty and other grant holders; ensure the integrity of financial transactions in compliance with regulations; develop effective partnerships with faculty, project managers and other grant holders.
• Initiate and lead financial contacts to effectively manage grant activity.
• Manage accounting records for all research budgets and reports account status to principal investigators, division heads, program directors, project managers and senior business officers as appropriate.
• Exercise resource stewardship and reports known or suspected irregularities to the senior business officer, the Comptroller and the Director of Internal Audit to ensure compliance with related policies and procedures.
• Integrate special project activity across both divisions working in collaboration with key players.
• Assist with research related information for benchmarking purposes working in collaboration with the business office.
• Provide training and outreach on relevant research related topics as needed.

• Interpret and inform PI’s and Project Managers of relevant policies and procedures, especially those that pertain to financial matters, to facilitate expenditure transactions.
• Monitor overdraft and receivables on grants. • Provide budget projections to facilitate faculty award oversight.
• Serve as a liaison for faculty and staff between School of Nursing and university administrative offices, i.e. Research Services, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Travel, etc. Disseminate new policy changes to faculty and staff.
• Process manual journal entries and payroll reallocations according to sponsor approved grant budgets, University and School of Nursing guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with University, School and sponsored projects policies and procedures.
• Analyze and review monthly reports; work in collaboration with PIs and Project Managers to ensure accuracy.
• Provide specialized financial reports for non-federal grant sponsors.
• Meet with management monthly to review grant status reports.
• Actively participate as a team member of the effort reporting system.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior sponsored project compliance knowledge with solid grant proposal, budget, financial and post award management experience needed. We are seeking a candidate that poses a proactive work style with strong follow up skills, ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures; excellent oral and written communication skills. Superb customer service skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels in a fast paced environment using sound judgment essential.
