This involves preparing, developing and overseeing staff in the training, evaluation, and troubleshooting required to develop working dogs for various careers in scent detection including search and rescue, single purpose scent detection or olfaction research such as medical detection, conservation detection or one health research. The person in this role is also responsible for collaborating on the sourcing of dogs for our program, key internal and external relationships, and the collaboration between Training and Research teams to support sponsored research and the growth of our program. This position works in tandem with the Law Enforcement Program Director to successfully place PVWDC dogs into the right careers with the right K9 Handlers. This is a key leadership role at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center and has staff and program management accountabilities and administrative duties as well.Job Description
