Job Description Summary
This is a senior level strategic position with primary responsibilities and perspective to define, direct, and be held accountable for executing the Bridging the Gaps (BTG) Program Model. BTG is a multi-institutional collaborative effort among eight academic health center based programs across Pennsylvania and into New Jersey. Yearly, BTG partners with approximately 100 community partners and 180 health profession students. BTG includes the BTG Community Health Internship Program (CHIP) in all program locations and the BTG Seminar Series, and BTG Community Health Rotation Program in Philadelphia. The Director oversees all aspects of the UPenn BTG Component Program, which is a collaboration of the Schools of Dental Medicine, Medicine, Nursing, Social Policy and Practice, and Veterinary Medicine.
Over its 32-year history, BTG has over 6,000 alumni and over 600 community partner organizations with whom they have worked. The Director internally and externally represents the program and provides direction, support and leadership and ensures the administration, documentation, reporting and publication of this multi-institutional, interdisciplinary program whose stakeholders include (community organizations, students, alumni and faculty from multiple professional disciplines, academic health centers/universities, and funders). The Director defines and directs the development of the program evaluation and measurement including longitudinal and impact data for proposal development, report writing, and academic journal submission. The BTG program was awarded a million-dollar grant from the RWJ Foundation which has allowed the program profile to grow to include a Strategic Planning / Capacity Building project. The Director has strong collaborative relationships and management skills and will provide leadership in driving the development, build out, implementation, documentation, and dissemination of this new initiative, including the creation of an administrative infrastructure that will ensure the future sustainability of whatever initiatives flow from this process.
The Director maintains strong collaborative relationships with BTG Program Directors from eight academic health institutions (Operations) and provides support and leadership to this group to assure academic institution participation is within the parameters of the BTG Model. The Director oversees the UPenn BTG Component Program comprised of Penn faculty from the schools of Dental Medicine, Medicine, Social Policy and Practice, Nursing and Veterinary School of Medicine including development/oversight of interdisciplinary curriculum design and evaluation. The Director oversees the Program Director who manages the administrative aspects of the BTG program including, site development, student recruitment and placement. The Director oversees the Program Director and assist the BTG Program Directors as needed to foster community academic relationships and collaborates with Penn faculty to supervise students. The Director oversees the city-wide BTG Clinical Program and Seminar Series.
