Job Profile Title
Director B, Academic Affairs, Academic Center
Job Description Summary
The Director of the newly established Carl H. Goldsmith Agriculture Research Fund will join the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy as a critical partner and thought leader in the development of this initiative. The Kleinman Center was founded in 2014 as Penn’s home for research and teaching on energy policy. A 2023 gift to the center allows for the strategic growth of our current research agenda to include the important intersection of energy policy and agriculture practices.
The Director will be responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of the Regenerative Agriculture Research (RAR). This will include building relationships with faculty across Penn’s twelve schools who have an interest in this transdisciplinary agenda, establishing a research grants program, determining project partners off campus and managing projects, translating academic research into policy-relevant briefs and outputs, hosting workshops and convenings, managing student research assistants, and creating a reporting mechanism that measures progress and success. The staff director will have access to the Kleinman Center’s platform, including our communications team, financial services support, and our premier events space. The position will report directly to the center’s executive director.
The staff director must have a working knowledge of both energy and agriculture policy, must be an excellent communicator, ideally with a history of translating academic research in policy outcomes, and must have the ability to self-direct and work as part of a larger team. An established track record of project design, development, and management is a must.
