Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Associate Controller, this position will manage Workday, contracting, purchasing and related tasks for all centralized departments and programs, including Wharton Computing, Wharton Operations, Marketing & Communications and others. This position will take direct responsibility for payroll for all regular and full time staff in these departments; manage daily purchasing operations; serve as back-up to the team’s Business Managers and perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities
– Develop relationships with Business Managers and supported departments to understand and facilitate execution of any hiring, payment or other processes including full and part time staff positions, Fellows, student works and etc.
– Manage Purchasing for all departments including reviewing and approving requisitions and PO’s as well as onboarding new vendors, facilitating the review of purchasing contracts with University Purchasing and ensuring that all purchasing needs are accurately and efficiently met and consistent with university processes.
– Consistently assess and evaluate business process improvements in the financial operation of departments being managed. Routinely evaluate and improve (as needed) Workday and Purchasing reporting to departments.
– Manage Concur and travel reimbursement approvals and business flows for supported departments.
– Ensure compliance with all financial policies by team members and supported departments.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree is required (preferred major: Accounting or finance) and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytical skills with financial analysis and business operations essential. Understanding of the principles and priorities helpful but not necessary. Thorough knowledge of established accounting standards and practices, financial planning, taxation, and management is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Advanced skills in Excel. Strong working knowledge of database technology. Experience managing, leading, and motivating a diverse group of professionals. Background check is required.
