Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Research and Prospect Management, this position provides research products and prospect management processes to build a sustainable and broad-based principal and major gifts pipeline for fundraisers in Wharton External Affairs.
The Associate Director will collaborate with fundraisers and other internal partners to research, develop, and maintain prospect pools, with a focus on, but not limited to, international fundraising. They will manage reactive and proactive prospect research for frontline fundraisers They will participate in strategy meetings to share information and to determine what research is needed to move prospects through the stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. They will help prioritize portfolios, assist with challenging cases, assess prospect viability, and identify key information needed to move each prospect forward.
The Associate Director will use information provided by the data analytics team along with available prospect management dashboards to provide essential fundraisers with information on outreach and development activities across the department, to inform portfolio strategy and support portfolio health. They will also use dashboard tools to develop prospect lists based on specific fund-raising and campaign initiatives.
The Associate Director will participate in weekly and monthly prospect alignment and portfolio strategy discussions with directors of development.
The Associate Director will coordinate with research/prospect management colleagues to ensure team is following prospect management guidelines and recording and tracking information accurately in the database.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and prospect research experience is required.
Experience in higher education is highly desired. The ideal candidate with have experience in international prospect research and experience with working on a larger development staff. Occasional evening work may be required.
