This position analyzes trends, performs impact analysis, and makes recommendations to Department leadership regarding financial operations, providing salient reporting as required. The Assoc Dir is responsible for preparing financial reports and presentations, proactive analysis, budget projects, and ad hoc reporting for presentation to SPO Directors and Executives. This position enforces financial standards and SPO practices consistent and compliant with Department, School, University, and Penn Medicine requirements. The Assoc Dir must be able to commonly and quickly adjust perspective from high level to meticulous detail, and all levels in between, to serve Department, School, University, and Penn Medicine constituents. Reporting and documentation must be consistent with this perspective and reconcile seemingly disparate constituent needs and goals. The position supervises the SPO Business Manager and provides fact-checking and oversight on financial transactions initiated by Departmental PO Managers. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar, and 5-7 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
This position requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships.
Computer skills must be proficient or greater, particularly with Excel, enterprise financial systems and databases.
Excellent communications skills are required, including the ability to communicate and enforce policies and procedure with tact and diplomacy.
We strongly prefer experience with and knowledge of the University’s budget procedures and accounting systems and human resources/payroll policies, procedures and systems such as BEN Financials, Business Objects, Concur, Workday@Penn.
